Your Impact
As a Senior Engineer supporting Lowe’s digital experience, you will help shape how millions of customers interact with Lowes.com—from placing an order, to tracking fulfillment, to managing delivery changes and returns. Your primary responsibility is to translate complex business requirements into scalable backend services, BFFs (Backend-for-Frontend layers), and enterprise integrations that power a seamless post-purchase experience.
You will build and maintain stable software systems across front-end, back-end, and enterprise order platforms, ensuring customers have clear visibility into their orders, accurate data, and intuitive self-service options. This role requires strong engineering expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a leadership mindset as you collaborate across global teams to drive clarity, resolve production issues, and deliver exceptional digital customer experiences.
What You Will Do
Translate complex digital purchase and post-purchase requirements into executable stories, detailed designs, and robust code modules.
Build and maintain backend services, BFFs, and integrations that connect multiple enterprise systems and render customer-facing experiences.
Develop high-quality, maintainable Java/Spring boot/Spring WebFlux microservices with strong observability, test coverage, and operational resiliency.
Integrate with enterprise systems such as the Enterprise Order Platform and other systems to retrieve item data, order details, fulfillment updates, and more.
Identify and resolve production issues by investigating logs (ELK), database queries, and service dependencies.
Perform structured postmortems and drive long-term technical improvements.
Work with Kafka, MongoDB, middleware & microservices
Participate and mentor other engineers in software development technologies and processes by creating onboarding documents, root cause analysis, key learnings, demos, and share-out sessions.
Automates and simplifies team development, tests, and operations processes for efficiency of delivering the work.
Evaluates modern software, tools, and technologies to provide objective analysis and recommendations to the team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
5 years of experience in software development or a related field
4 years of experience in any of following competencies: frontend technologies (user interface/user experience), middleware (microservices and application programming interfaces), database technologies, or DevOps
4 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC) through iterative agile development
Preferred Skills/Education
Master’s degree in computer science, CIS, or related field
4 years of experience writing technical documentation in a software environment, developing and implementing business systems within an organization, and working with source code control systems
4 years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, defect or incident tracking software, web services, and application and integration middleware
4 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high level design for complex solutions
4 years of experience working with three or more of the following: Continuous integration/continuous deployment tools, frontend technologies, middleware, database technologies, and/or DevOps
