Fairview Hospital provides a comprehensive range of surgical services, including cardiothoracic, vascular, urology, colorectal, orthopedics, general, bariatric, breast, and cancer-related surgeries. In addition, the hospital offers advanced minimally invasive options such as single-port and robotic surgery that promote faster recovery, reduced pain, and smaller incisions, helping patients return to their lives more quickly. As a Registered Nurse in this unit, you will quickly enhance your skillet caring for diverse populations of patients with varying medical/surgical needs and be a part of a multidisciplinary team.   

*This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour shift during the week. Weekend shift options start at 7:00pm on Fridays and end at 7:30am on Mondays. While you are only working 36 hours a week, Cleveland Clinic will pay you for 44 hours of work and give you full-time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule.*

A caregiver in this position works weekends + 1 day/night from 7:00 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide direct nursing care. 

• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  

• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

• Educate patients and their families.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire

• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experienc

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• Perioperative experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
