As Director of Hospital Operations, you will assist the Senior Director with various tasks related to strategy planning, business development and daily operational flow across the hospital system. You will oversee any assigned departments, ensuring consistency, continuity and cohesion among team members and leaders. This position offers an excellent avenue in which to grow your management skills and advance the Professional Ladder while enhancing the Cleveland Clinic experience for patients, families, the community and your fellow caregivers. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Direct the administrative, analytical and managerial support related to integration and implementation of new projects, services, policies and procedures. 
  • Advise the hospital leadership regarding various processes, including integration activities, Human Resources and space/support service requirements to achieve specified goals and objectives. 
  • Research, perform analysis, compile data and advise institute/division/hospital Leadership relative to long-range planning strategies, financial forecasting, non-physician personnel management, patient relations, space and equipment, marketing strategies and external relations. 
  • Assist the Senior Director in developing business plans for new services and repositioning existing services. 
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned areas, goals and OKR’s (objectives and key results).   
  • Manage and supervise direct and indirect reports, including those in a matrix relationship. 
  • Identify opportunities for growth and development of caregivers. 
  • Maintain an effective organizational structure and ensure proper staffing with skilled and trained personnel. 
  • Monitor processes and recommend/implement improvements to ensure maximum service. 
  • Direct the annual budget process and participate in planning strategies related to revenue forecasting, Human Resource needs, facilities, services and market positions. 
  • Interpret trends in healthcare delivery systems and direct the overall operations of areas of control considering current demands and changing needs. 
  • Define, lead and implement system-wide projects as necessary. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business Administration, Health Care Administration or other related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare or operations roles, including budget development and forecasting, assessment of cost effectiveness of systems, planning and management of space and equipment, management of diverse levels of employees, planning and implementation of systems and procedures OR Master’s Degree and three years of experience 
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost analysis, manpower planning, supervision, compliance and operational analysis 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. Ability to operation a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
