How You’ll Make an Impact

As part of the Information Technology division, the Project Governance Office (PGO) is responsible for moving projects forward on behalf of Fidelity Investments Canada (FIC) and maintaining the project portfolio inventory to report to the Information Technology Executive Committee (ITEC) on a monthly basis. The project management group works with the PGO to ensure portfolio, program and project management standards, processes and procedures are adhered to.

The Project Governance Office Consultant is responsible for providing administrative support in the areas of project and portfolio management. Working in close partnership with the Director of Project Governance and the project management team, the role is primarily responsible for maintaining and communicating FIC’s project and portfolio management processes and practices across the enterprise and supporting critical and ongoing project governance activities.

Primary responsibilities:

  • You will provide ongoing support and administration of FIC’s project portfolio, including coordination of presentation materials and resources required for monthly IT Executive Committee (ITEC) and bi-weekly Project Estimation Committee (PEC) meetings.

  • You will assist with advising and training Executive Sponsors, Business Sponsors, Project Managers and other project team members on FIC’s project and portfolio management processes, disciplines and best practices via quarterly meetings.

  • You will be the owner/administrator of the Portfolio Management/Time Tracking system (Eclipse) and will act as the PGO subject matter expert as well as the FIC representative and vendor contact for the application.

  • You will maintain FIC’s project intranet (Project Central) and will communicate updates across the enterprise including relevant training.

  • You will fill in for Project Managers at meetings to fulfill responsibilities in their absence i.e. chairing meetings, taking minutes and tracking action items

  • You will ensure project standards are being followed by Project Managers and all materials and documentation are compliant and auditable.

  • You will develop and maintain a PGO procedures document as well as a guidelines and procedures manual for Project Managers.

  • You will keep current on project and portfolio management best practices and will identify opportunities for application to FIC project standards (e.g. Project Governance model, PEP/FSDM Methodology) and meeting processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • University Degree/College Diploma or equivalent work experience, financial services experience preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with project and portfolio management, experience in an IS environment would be an asset.

  • Good understanding of the project management lifecycle and in-depth knowledge of organizational project portfolio management methods, governance framework and processes.

  • Well-versed in structured development methodology and practical experience with project management techniques and tools.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
