Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an immediate opening for an entry-level full-time heavy equipment operator at the Poplar Island facility located near Tilghman Island, Maryland. The position available will be hired as an EO Trainee (EOT) or Equipment Operator (EO).

Primary responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include operating off-road dump trucks, dozers, excavators, other heavy equipment, pumps, boat operation, and spillway discharge operations. Training will be provided as needed. This position may occasionally require evening and weekend work as well as temporary assignments to other MES-operated facilities. Assignment requires travel on a crew boat to and from the work site. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Estimated Pay Range:

Trainee: $39,918.43 - $45,500

EO: $43,909.83 - $50,000

Minimum Requirements:

Both classifications require graduation from a standard high school or GED, ability to pass a standard physical examination, ability to lift 50 pounds, and possession of a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points. EOT requires no additional experience. EO classification is required to have one (1) year applicable experience.

Position classification and salary offered will be based upon applicable experience.
