Software Platform Product Manager

Description -

The Platform Product Manager will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing activities for our Enterprise Business partners within the Print software platform. This involves working closely with business unit stakeholders to ensure that the platform is meeting their needs and supporting customer-facing HP products and solutions. The Platform Product Manager makes data-driven decisions and collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Architects, Program and other Product Managers, to drive platform functionality from concept to customer adoption.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build a scalable, secure, and reliable Print Software platform.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities.
  • Own the business-specific platform roadmap for services and manage the backlog through constant prioritization. Manage product management requirements coming from various business units and cross-functional teams.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into product requirements and definitions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to guide feature development and prioritization.
  • Translate user requirements into executable and workable feature items with the software engineering team.
  • Act as an advocate for stakeholders during the specification and development stages.
  • Manage the product lifecycle of functionalities on the Print Software platform.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of software platform systems, including enterprise, middleware, firmware, and embedded systems.
  • Adept at collecting and analyzing input from multiple sources (internal customers, product managers, engineering, architecture, and management).
  • Significant experience in software development, systems engineering, or software platform product management.
  • Ability to understand and deal well with rapid development cycles and remain flexible in the face of uncertainty.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical language and translate between the two.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple, and sometimes conflicting, business requests
  • Understand the Enterprise Print Market and the associated technology and business model

Scope & Impact

  • Advises various internal, partner, and customer teams on the needs and requirements of target markets.
  • Works closely with architects and technology leads, directly engaging with internal and external software development teams.

Complexity

  • Advanced: Senior and Executive management interface; frequent cross-functional/cross-organizational interaction on execution of tactics.
  • Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives.
  • Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a team or project leader, providing direction to team activities and facilitating information validation and team decision-making processes.
  • Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area or demonstrated competence. Typically, 10+ years of relevant software product management experience.

The base pay range for this role is $146,000 to $212,00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
