Role Summary

The Experience Design Center (XDC) at Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Senior UX Researcher to provide tactical and strategic research insights for new scientific products and user experiences. This role involves generating actionable insights through qualitative and quantitative research methods, supporting user-centered design for both near-term usability improvements and long-term product strategies. Based in Singapore, you'll have the unique opportunity to work with a diverse user base across the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to products that serve global markets.

How will you make an impact?

  • Lead UX Research initiatives to inform the design and development of both physical and digital scientific products
  • Contribute to Thermo Fisher Scientific's growing presence in the Asia-Pacific market by providing culturally nuanced insights

What will you do? (Responsibilities)

  • Lead research projects independently, defining objectives, creating research plans, and managing execution
  • Use advanced research methods, including usability testing, ethnographic studies, and concept testing
  • Develop participant screening criteria and manage recruitment processes
  • Moderate sessions to uncover user motivations and emotions
  • Ensure confidentiality agreements and legal approvals for research projects
  • Apply analysis skills to determine metrics, calculate statistical measures, and report results accurately
  • Influence product direction by synthesizing insights into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Lead workshops for discovery, research preparation, and ideation
  • Develop user personas and journeys, and provide insights into industry workflows
  • Use a broad range of research tools and software
  • Communicate UX Research value and processes to product teams
  • Lead and participate in 'research roadshows'
  • Analyze patterns and trends across multiple research projects to support business objectives
  • Partner with product, design, and engineering leadership to prioritize research initiatives
  • Manage interactions with outsourced research resources and vendors

  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in other Asian languages is a plus

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in a behavioral or cognitive science (e.g., Psychology, Human Factors, HCI, Anthropology, Sociology), or a relevant field such as Usability Engineering or Life Sciences, preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience in a scientific, medical, or laboratory setting combined with UX research experience will also be considered.
  • 6-9 years of related experience
  • Experience working in multicultural environments is highly valued

Travel Requirements

  • This position may require travel within the Asia-Pacific region and occasionally to other global locations for research activities, team collaborations, and client meetings.
