The Opportunity:

The Data Governance Liaison is a critical contributor to the organization’s data governance program, focused on ensuring the accuracy, usability, and compliance of enterprise data assets. This role supports the development and maintenance of the enterprise data catalog by collaborating with Data Stewards and cross-functional teams to document Data Products, refine metadata standards, and implement processes that improve data discoverability and accessibility.

 

The Liaison will assist in automating catalog curation workflows, perform regular audits to maintain metadata integrity, and contribute to initiatives that enhance data quality and compliance with regulatory requirements. This position also plays an important role in promoting data governance awareness by supporting training programs and fostering a culture of collaboration and stewardship across the organization.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills with data governance tools, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to align data governance practices with business objectives. Success in this role requires attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work cooperatively across teams to deliver trusted, well-documented Data Products.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with Data Stewards to populate and refine our enterprise data catalog.

  • Develop processes to automate data catalog curation and refinement.

  • Perform regular audits on data catalog to ensure accuracy of metadata.

  • Enhance data cataloging practices to ensure data discoverability and data useability.

  • Develop workflows to facilitate access requests to data products.

  • Document Data Product elements, business context, quality standards and compliance, contractual or security requirements for each managed Data Product.

  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.

  • Contribute to data quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions as needed.

  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to establish our data products, dictionaries, glossaries, and cataloging tools to facilitate metadata discovery and documentation.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive Data Product training and awareness programs for associates at all levels within the organization.

  • Foster a culture of data stewardship, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on the status of the data catalog for committee and executive management.

  • Stay abreast of issues and regulatory changes affecting healthcare, data protection, governance and privacy within the industry and regulatory fronts and incorporate into the data governance program to maintain compliance.

Employment Requirements:

  • Professional certification of CISSP, GIAC, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA or CYSA, strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in data stewardship, data governance, or data management within a healthcare setting. 
  • Experience in Revenue Cycle Management. 3 to 5 Years relatable professional experience
  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Knowledge of data lifecycle management and data architecture.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), healthcare coding systems (ICD, CPT), and clinical terminologies (SNOMED, LOINC).
  • Understanding of compliance requirements with regulations like GDPR, HIPAA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in data management tools a plus (e.g., Purview, Databricks, Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI).
  • Knowledge of SQL and data querying tools is a plus.
  • This position pays between $83,200- 121,250 based on experience
