Inventory Forecasting is a core function of supply chain driving replenishment, sourcing, capacity and transportation plans. Improved accuracy of inventory forecasting will help enhance sales and customer experience while reducing operational cost and wastage to the tune of billions of dollars. Doing this at Walmart's scale makes it one of the largest and most challenging problems of its kind in the world while also being the most impactful. Our team is enabling internal data science teams to build and optimize their forecasting workflows and provide forecasts across channels at scale. 

About You:

You love code. You love to take raw ideas and build great products with Java, Springboot, Microservices, Distributed system and Big Data technologies. You might like to talk about obscure computer science topics, but really, you just want to write simple code and ship new products and features to customers (or improve existing ones). You will own and build scalable and highly available Web-serives in production and will have following responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities:

As a software engineer (Backend) you will own and develop feature sets that involve Restful API Services. Candidate should be able to work on Distributed computing with Big data technologies. The responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement best-in-class forecasting systems to ensure best capacity utilisation and meet SLAs.
• Enable data scientists, business and product partners to fully leverage our platform.
• Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting multi-billion-dollar business.
• Create RESTful Web services to expose and process data.
• Implementation of Distributed system based data pipeliens with Java. 
• Design and implement the Java, Springboot based APIs using Micro-services architecture.
• Software Craftsmanship practices including TDD, Clean Code, Refactoring with SOA.
• Write unit tests and performs integration testing to ensure high application quality to meet business requirements.
• Working with agile development methodologies, continuous integration and GIT version control.
• Create optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considering scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs.
• Experiment: This is a startup-like environment so everything can change as we experiment with doing more custom partnership work
• Partner with product owners and business SMEs to analyse the business need and provide a supportable and sustainable engineered solution. Ensure that the overall technical solution is aligned with the business needs.
• Develop applications using industry best practices. Make adjustments to adopt new methodologies that provide the business with increased flexibility and agility.
• Stay current with latest development tools, technology ideas, patterns and methodologies; share knowledge by clearly articulating results and ideas to key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Backend development.
• Broad experience with Java and Spring framework with interest in system architecture, caching techniques, and data modelling.
• Must have the ability to learn Object Oriented Concepts and the concepts of a Software Development Life Cycle.
• Experience with database systems including SQL, NoSql and high level knowledge of BigData tech including HDFS, Hive etc.
• Experience with development tools, including JIRA, GitHub, Maven/Gradle and Jenkins.
• Experience on Big Data Technologies/Stack – GCP, Spark, Hive and Astornomer.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of experience in software development using Java.
• Experience with distributed system performance analysis and optimisation
• Experience with Multi-tenant architecture, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with DevOps best practices.
