Job Summary

The Systems Engineer will ensure the optimal implementation of Surescripts’ technology infrastructure. This includes designing, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing IT infrastructure, including server hardware, storage solutions, virtual infrastructure, and enterprise software solutions. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems escalated from other IT staff in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development of strategic goals and plans for systems/infrastructure and software relative to datacenter facilities, capacity planning and storage solutions. Conduct cost benefit analysis of infrastructure systems and technology solutions including new products / services as well as maintaining / refreshing existing infrastructure.
  • Provide input / feedback regarding system design and implementation, including technical feasibility, budgetary considerations, enterprise alignment / consistency, etc.
  • Administer Group Policy Object settings and scripts to ensure consistency in baseline configuration across all environments
  • Document system configuration and operation
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure existence and viability of Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery planning, including identification of key infrastructure, RPO / RTO, and likely points of failure
  • Design, install, configure, and manage storage infrastructure and solutions
  • Implement and deploy enterprise configuration management tools, such as patching solutions, encryption management, imaging solutions, etc.
  • Install and configure server hardware to support business operations
  • Install and configure client and server operating systems (Windows 7 / 10, Server 2012 / 2016, Linux / Unix, MacOS, etc.)"
  • Manage and maintain VMware infrastructure
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing system performance, providing statistics and reports
  • Practice asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
  • Implement and manage backup solutions for all critical resources, including operating system backups, configuration backups, etc.
  • Provide escalation support for Help Desk issues, as well as resolution of complex technical problems from other staff

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in IT, computer science, information sciences or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience in systems engineering role
  • 3 + years working with VMware technologies (vSphere / ESXi 5.5+)
  • 3 + years managing storage technologies such as (ZFS (NexentaStor / Oracle), NetApp, Dell, EMC, etc.)
  • 3 + years working technical knowledge of server operating systems (Server 2008/2012, Ubuntu, CentOS/RedHat, Solaris, etc.)
  • 3 + years managing Active Directory and Group Policy Objects
  • 3 + years hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
  • 2 + years PowerShell scripting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving & analytical thinking
  • VMware vSphere / ESXi
  • Knowledge of enterprise storage and backup Solutions
  • Experience with Surescripts’ software
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow & ITIL methodologies
  • Experience with HIPAA compliance requirements

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $130,500 - $159,500 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
