Job Description Summary:

A faculty position in the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The position will enhance the department's current interdisciplinary research strengths with opportunities to collaborate with outstanding scientists pursuing basic and translational investigations.

Job Description:

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Performing research activities including conducting experiments, analyzing data, and writing and communicating manuscripts.

  • Guiding post-doctoral fellows and graduate students.

  • Participate in conferences, journal clubs, and national research meetings.

  • Writing and submitting grants.

  • Writing animal and IRB protocols

  • Perform independent laboratory research.

  • Train junior lab members in research methodology.

  • Maintain up-to-date lab protocols and research documentation.

Required Qualifications

Education: PhD, MD/DO or equivalent.

Work Experience: Technical experience in lab research, established record of scholarly productivity related to basic science (cell, molecular biology, or genetics), evidence of or strong potential for externally funded research, and experience with teaching or mentoring students at all degree and post-graduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • One year of working experience in a scientific laboratory

  • Background in IBD research.

  • Experience with mouse colonoscopy and colon biopsy.

  • Experience with using Chamber analysis.

  • Knowledge and experience with cell and animal models of pancreatic cancer.
