Responsibilities/Essential Functions/Job Duties
Prepares and reviews journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
Coordinates key components of the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are accurate
Reviews accounting records and transactions for accuracy, proper documentation, appropriate classification, and compliance with company policy
Analyzes and reconciles complex general ledger accounts, investigates variances, and resolves discrepancies
Leads the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and local management reports
Prepares management reporting and financial analysis that compares actual results to budgets, forecasts, and historical trends
Supports the annual financial audit by preparing schedules, responding to audit requests, and ensuring supporting documentation is complete
Communicates financial results, key variances, and analytical insights to local and upper management
Prepares journal entries for prepaid expenses and accruals
Identifies and implements opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, improve reporting accuracy, and enhance internal controls
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
CPA or MBA preferred, but not required
Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience
Competencies
Analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, research variances, evaluate trends, and develop actionable recommendations for management
Strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and judgment in evaluating financial results, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, pivot tables, complex formulas, data validation, and financial modeling techniques to support reporting, reconciliations, analysis, and process improvement
Proficiency with accounting and reporting systems, including the ability to extract, validate, reconcile, and analyze data from enterprise financial systems to support accurate reporting and decision-making
Ability to adapt to changing demands and needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
