Director, Delivery Platform

Expedia Group is seeking an experienced Director of Delivery Platforms to join our Developer Experience Engineering groupThe ideal candidate is an influential people leader who brings strategic thought leadership to the tableThey are also extremely passionate about providing efficient, automated and reliable delivery pipelines, alongside an amazing developer experience. 

This position will report to the Senior Director of the Developer Experience Engineering group, which is responsible for the products, tools and support that enable our EG development community. We are committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions and experiences across the following capabilities: Developer Advocacy & Enablement, CI/CD, Release Resiliency and Developer Support. 

 

The candidate will oversee the strategy of our CI/CD space and the execution and optimization of our tools and processes. They will lead a global team of engineers and will partner closely with Product and Program Management to deliver top notch pipeline capabilities to Expedians 

 

What You Will Do: 

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for CI/CD, in partnership with Architecture, that aligns with Expedia Group’s business objectives. 

  • Create and track OKRs that ladder up to EG strategic priorities. 

  • Evaluate and present new technology choices to technical and non-technical observers. 

  • Influence and deliver across multiple teams spanning business units, working in collaboration with a product team. 

  • Identify areas for improvement and develop innovative enhancements using automation and AI solutions.  

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve scalability, resiliency, observability and stability. 

  • Ensure that CI/CD processes comply with Expedia Group’s security and compliance requirements. 

  • Identify areas to optimize pipeline speed, reliability and quality across all stages of the software development lifecycle. 

  • Build relationships with leaders across the organization to understand business problems and apply a technology lens to solve them. 

  • Build strong teams by mentoring managers to empower team members. Mentor employees outside of our direct organization. 

  • Reward and recognize across the team. 

 

 Who You Are: 

  • 10+ years of related experience, 5+ years of people management experience in a technology role with global reach, 5+ years of experience in CI/CD. 

  • Proven ability to successfully design, develop, scale and inspire engineering teams.  

  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control, build and deployment automation technologies such as Github + Actions, Artifactory, Jenkins, and Spinnaker. 

  • Experience with cloud technology, networking, and/or infrastructure, in an ecommerce environment. 

  • Hands-on experience with Development in Public Cloud environments, preferably AWS. 

  • Outstanding communication and organizing skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Able to engender trust and motivation 

  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills; ability to see the “big picture” while also diving into details when needed.   

  • Bridges the gap between lofty architecture ideas and development of feasible solutions. 

  • Experience using Agile delivery methodologies, DevOps and matrixed organizational models. 

  • Effective vendor management, developing strategic vendor partnerships, and handling capital and operational budgets, resource planning and prioritization. 

  • Believes in and practices personal influence over positional influence.

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $202,500.00 to $283,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $324,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $221,000.00 to $309,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $353,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
