The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Claims Adjuster to join our Ovation team.

What you’ll do

  • Investigate and negotiate Ovation and RBC High New Worth / RBC Private Insurance auto and property claims in accordance with Aviva’s standard methodologies and handling procedures

  • Responsible for the issuance of payments to vendors, customer and experts

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data collected in Aviva systems

  • Analyze estimates, value of claims, negotiate, and settle claims accordingly

  • Interpret and apply Aviva Ovation high net worth personal policy coverage related to the loss

  • Communicate policy coverage and benefits to customers

  • Investigate and document cause of loss and quantum

  • Ability to work in a low volume phone queue environment as a first responder for Ovation policyholders and brokers

  • Review, comment on and approve vendor partner estimates for the cost of repairs or replacement of damaged or destroyed property

  • Maintain relationships with internal and external partners involved in management of customer claims

  • Acquire and maintain appropriate provincial adjuster licenses and align with continuing education requirements – where required

  • Be responsible for the customer relationship and outcomes on claims of varying quantum and complexity

  • Determine when fieldwork is required and co-ordinate the field resource required as well handle the information coming from the tasks.

  • Ensure early identification and reaction to exposures, recovery opportunities during storm and disaster events

  • Clear understanding of financial elements of the property claims function to ensure we remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data collected in Aviva systems

  • Identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities in line with existing internal and external requirements and procedures

  • Continuous improvement of customer experience/outcomes, indemnity and expense excellence

  • Measured demonstration of relevant Regulatory and Legislative compliance

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 4+ years of first party claims handling experience focusing auto claims. Property Claims experience is considered an asset.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior high net worth/VIP or specialty market claims experience

  • Experience using CoreLogic, Xactanalysis, Xactimate, Audatex, Edjuster, Guidewire ClaimCenter

  • CIP or FCIP Industry designation or other relevant professional insurance qualification

  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Property technical work experience

  • Superior technical competence in Personal insurance

  • Experience in handling VIP/high net worth, Private Client claims handling

  • Basic property claims scoping and estimating understanding/knowledge

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately and listen effectively

  • Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Bilingualism in a second language is considered an asset

  • Adjusting licenses for Quebec and/or Atlantic provinces will be considered an asset

What you’ll get

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $60,000 to $70,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
