The Opportunity:
CACI is currently looking for a Product Architect with deep expertise in modern application architecture and large-scale front-end migration strategies, specifically within an agile methodology framework. This role will join our BEAGLE (Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading-Edge Information Technology) Agile Solution Factory (ASF) Team, supporting our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) client located in Northern Virginia!
Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a member of the BEAGLE ASF Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity. CBP agents and officers are on the front lines, every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.
ASF programs thrive in a culture of innovation and are constantly seeking individuals who can bring creative ideas to solve complex problems, both technical and procedural at the team and portfolio levels. The ability to be adaptable and to work constructively with a technically diverse and geographically separated team is crucial. You should have worked with or have a strong interest in agile software development practices and delivering deployable software in short sprints.
Responsibilities:
As a Product Architect and technical lead for an agile team, you will be the driving force behind the architectural vision and implementation for our large-scale application modernization efforts, with a particular emphasis on our critical Angular Front-End migration. You will oversee all aspects of application architecture, including user interfaces, APIs, microservices, databases, and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with enterprise and program goals while leading the charge to transform our legacy systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Architectural Leadership for Large-Scale UI Migration: Define, champion, and evolve the technical architecture for the migration of a massive portfolio of user screens (500+) from legacy technologies like Dojo and Salesforce into a modern, unified, and performant Angular application.
Strategic Front-End Design: Guide the design and implementation of highly performant, maintainable, and scalable custom Angular components, modules, and services, establishing architectural patterns and best practices for the new front-end ecosystem.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a core member of multiple product teams, fostering seamless collaboration between front-end developers, backend Java engineers, UI/UX designers, product owners, and other architects to ensure successful product delivery and architectural integrity.
Legacy System Transformation: Analyze complex existing application logic and UI patterns within legacy screens (Dojo, Salesforce), devising innovative and efficient architectural solutions for their re-implementation in Angular, ensuring data integrity, business continuity, and a superior user experience.
Design System & UI/UX Integration: Drive the establishment and adoption of a consistent design system within the Angular application, ensuring architectural support for modern UI/UX principles, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive design.
Technical Roadmap & Planning: Work closely with business analysts and scrum masters to translate business needs into architectural solutions, developing technical roadmaps, epics, and stories that align with the Angular migration strategy and broader product vision.
Agile Technical Leadership: Participate actively and lead the technical aspects of all Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives), providing expert technical insights, estimations, and guidance specific to migration challenges and Angular development.
Cloud-Native Architecture & SecDevOps: Collaborate with the SecDevOps team to onboard new applications and architectural patterns to our cloud-based infrastructure, specifically for highly available, multi-tenant Angular deployments integrated with backend microservices (Java/Spring Boot).
Mentorship & Quality Assurance: Mentor and guide senior and junior developers on Angular architectural best practices, migration strategies, front-end development patterns, and robust automated testing approaches, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Code Quality & Standards: Contribute to defining and refining software engineering guidelines and coding standards, ensuring high code quality, maintainability, and scalability across the entire Angular migration effort. Oversee Cybersecurity Assessments and Static Code Analysis to define architectural remediations and improve overall software quality.
Innovation & Emerging Technologies: Keep up to date with industry trends, particularly in the Angular ecosystem and broader front-end architecture space, evaluating and advocating for new technologies and practices, including the strategic use of Generative AI for enhancing development productivity and quality.
Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify architectural risks, opportunities, compliance issues, and other concerns related to the migration and new application development.
Evangelize and Present: Present and evangelize architectural solutions to technical guilds, management, and stakeholders, articulating complex technical concepts clearly.
