Job Description and Responsibilities

EVRAZ North America is seeking a Labour Relations Business Partner, Alberta to join our dynamic team. As a leader in the steel manufacturing industry, we produce top-quality steel products for rail, energy, and industrial markets throughout North America.  In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in fostering positive labour relations and ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations. You will collaborate closely with employees, management, and union representatives to resolve conflicts, negotiate collective agreements, and develop strategies to enhance employee engagement and productivity.

Responsibilities

·       Serve as the main point of contact for all labor relations matters, providing guidance and support to management and employees

·       Develop and maintain positive relationships with union representatives, fostering a collaborative working environment

·       Responsible for a range of Labor Relations activities including collective agreement administration, grievance and issue management, arbitration and collective bargaining preparation, and union/management relations

·       Conduct investigations into employee complaints or allegations of unfair labor practices, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws

·       Provide training and education programs to management and employees on labor relations topics, promoting understanding and adherence to labor laws and regulations

·       Stay updated on changes in labor laws and industry trends, proactively identifying potential impacts on the organization and recommending appropriate actions

·       Maintain appropriate records and implement Labour Relations processes that limit liability and support the effectiveness of organizational objectives

Requirements

·       3 + years of Labour Relations work experience required, preferably within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment

·       3+ years of experience administering a range of Labour Relations activities an asset including: collective agreement administration, grievance and issue management, collective bargaining, union/management relations, performance management and conflict resolution processes

·       Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, organizational development, management or a related field required, supplemented by a specialized program or courses in labor relations or equivalent.

·       You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with employees, union representatives, and senior leaders

·       Your ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including unions and management, is crucial in this role

·       This is an 100% onsite position
