Job Summary

The Dining Room Host greets and seats guests of Degrees restaurant and is the first and last contact with the guest, focusing on the importance of customer service. This role takes and maintains reservations in the Open Table system ensuring that correct information is taken and properly recorded. The Dining Room Host answers the telephone and responds to guest inquiries. This role is responsible for maintaining communication with servers and management when guests are seated or any other pertinent information and maintaining an open rapport with guests and staff.

Customer Service

  • Greets and seats guests, helps clear and reset tables, takes reservations and maintains correct information in the Open Table system. Provides wait times, if necessary, and monitors dining room activity to ensure smooth guest flow and efficient table turnover. Handles special requests and responds to customer questions and inquiries regarding menus and restaurant policies. Assists the restaurant staff towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results.

Facility & Operations

  • Helps maintain a clean and safe working environment, with continual emphasis on guest service. Assists in training new staff in proper execution of the host position. Keeps host area and menus neat and clean. Remains continually informed about any upcoming or current events happening in Mitchell Hall.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year of restaurant experience.
  • Servsafe Certified preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

Restaurant environment on all three floors of the Hospitality building and occasionally in outdoor seating areas, so a variance in temperature and climate is possible. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices.
