Become a member of the Advanced Packaging Technology and Manufacturing - Technology Development (APTM-TD) Media, Inspection, Handling Systems, and Laser (MIHL) Module engineering team in Kulim as a laser development engineer leading the development and deployment of Intel's advanced chip packaging process technology.
- In this position, you will be responsible for developing laser marking, laser barrier, laser ablation and micro drilling next generation semiconductor packaging technology.
- Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of laser process recipes and understanding material interactions while delivering to our quality and reliability standards.
- In addition, you will be engaging in testing and validating hardware/software upgrades to meet product requirements.
- Laser Development Engineers respond to customer requests or challenges, develop solutions to problems that meet process, quality and cost requirements. Laser Dev engineers develop solutions to meet to customer requirements from platform specification to validation, deployment, and proliferation to high volume manufacturing (HVM) sites.
- Laser Development Engineers must have strong physics background (laser, ablation, optics), Design of Experiments (DOE), structured problem solving and statistics knowledge to enable them to plan and conduct experiments to characterize solutions throughout the product development life cycle.
- They also drive improvements in quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability, productivity and safety/ergonomics.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or related STEM field
- Have at least 1 year of the work experience
- Experience with and fundamental understanding of laser ablation/drilling techniques (UV, IR, Green lasers), and testing/troubleshooting of ultra-high precision laser equipment.
- Strong understanding of statistical principles, statistical process control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Ability to apply fundamental scientific and engineering principles to develop novel design solutions for high volume manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with laser ablation techniques (UV, IR, Green lasers).
Vision and motion systems background (2D/3D vision systems, High speed / high accuracy pick-n-place systems).
Fundamental understanding of semiconductor devices and packing technology.
Data Science and Statistics tools background (Python, Numpy/Pandas, SQL, JMP, Minitab).
Mechanical design experience (CAD, Solidwork, GD and T)
Strong influencing, written and verbal communication skills.
