Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our application areas include rock drilling, rock cutting, crushing, and screening, loading, and hauling, tunnelling, quarrying, and breaking and demolition. To our Rock Tools division and the Production Unit in Patancheru, we are now looking for an Trainee Engineer - Production Technology to join us.

Your scope:

To learn and carry out activities related to Production Technology department.

To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are: 

• Responsible for best EHS practices, identifying, reporting hazard and working in-line with Sandvik way.
• Prove out of parts, setup of CNC machines, its operation and make required documentation.
• Being integral part of team in installation and commissioning of new equipment and process.
• Responsible for making of Process drawings and fixture drawings.
• Study and improve manufacturing processes and procedures aimed at lowering manufacturing cost.
• Research, benchmark, introduce and maintain safety practices in all activities and supported areas.
• Making CAD drawing and layout drawing support
• Responsible for coordinating with plant engineering, manufacturing engineering & production for scheduling of new product development and project activities.
• Responsible for sending RFQ, making technical evaluation, make comparative studies and come up with recommendation for new cutting tools and fixtures
• To support and facilitating 5S and point kaizens activities for operations
• Basic knowledge in industrial engineering, manufacturing processes, knowledge in 5S, lean manufacturing.
• Ability to adapt & implement modern technology quickly
• Idea with modern machine shop and automation
• Working hands on in CAD tools
• Familiar with manufacturing operation and CNC machines.
• Positive attitude & ready to take up challenges

Your profile:

A fresh graduate in mechanical or production engineering from a reputed engineering college. Strong knowledge on EHS culture is a distinct advantage and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings.

Competencies that we find necessary are:

• Knowledge of numerical controlled turning, milling, multi-tasking machines, and inspection equipment/methods.
• Knowledge in CNC program, controls and CAM program.
• Knowledge in process planning/design and process drawings.
• Knowledge on jigs, fixtures, and cutting tools.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Basic inspection methods and knowledge on instruments and gauges.
• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma methodology, and digitalization concepts (IoT).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills, positive attitude, and soft skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools.
• Knowledge of international management standards and documentation related to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
