About This Opportunity
We are seeking two dedicated Anatomy Mortuary Technician’s to join the Gross Anatomy Facility based at the School of Biomedical Science. In these roles, you will leverage your expertise to support teaching, learning, and research involving human cadavers. One of the positions is for someone that has embalming experience that will ethically prepare and release donors that are used for teaching purposes. We want to hear from you if you like to work afternoon shifts (1230-1800), are detail-oriented, highly organised, and committed to advancing anatomical education.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain the organisation and security of teaching materials in the Gross Anatomy Facility.
Conduct day-to-day tasks including cleaning the Gross Anatomy Facility, adhering to an ethical and efficient organizational plan.
Ensure appropriate teaching specimens are available in a timely and efficient manner for all scheduled practical classes.
Embalming
Ethical preparation of donors by anatomical embalming or freezing for use in teaching, research and surgical training as directed by the GAF Team Leader, including maintenance of mortuary equipment, instruments and ensuring adequate provision of embalming fluids, consumables, PPE and associated products through auditing and purchasing.
Preparation (including sectioning), maintenance, use and disposal of teaching specimens in accordance with State legislation and University and School policies and guidelines.
Provision of teaching specimens in a timely and efficient manner for all scheduled practical classes and examinations.

About You
Completion of a degree in mortuary practices or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Experience in a mortuary, pathology lab, or clinical environment.
High level of interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to manage time efficiently and execute duties in a balanced and caring manner.
Embalming
Possess a general knowledge in human anatomy and technical skills in dissection and/or recognised embalming qualifications.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, mandatory immunisations etc.
