Job Description​

The Director of Sterile Processing is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic and employee related activities for Sterile Processing within Saint Luke of Kansas City (SLHKC).  They will serve as a subject matter expert to the other SLHS West region entities. The position’s major responsibility is directing the day-to-day operations, budgeting, financial management, and human resource management. The Director works closely with a variety of stakeholders, coordinating the activities of Sterile Processing at SLHKC. The Director of Sterile Processing serves as the programmatic and operational leader for Sterile Processing and is responsible to the COO of SLHKC and works closely with Directors of CVOR and the Main OR and other clinical areas.

Requires either Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Management (CSPDM) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Healthcare Leader from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).

  • Directs and provides guidance to effectively allocate resources based on patient volume, space.

  • Availability, budget constraints, and program priorities, goals and objectives.

  • Provide leadership, direction and coordination of operations.

  • Finances and human resources for area of responsibility.

  • Manage and direct all activities within area of responsibility.

  • Continually assesses all services, identifies problems, utilizes data to analyze and propose innovative approaches for solutions.

  • Maintain records related to operations and services that are complete, accurate, available, and in compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.

  • Engages staff and other stakeholders in continuous improvement of systems and processes; manages resources for staff participation in improvement work activities.
