Role Overview

The Associate Director, US Reimbursement, Market Access & Health Policy is accountable for developing and executing U.S. reimbursement, coding, and health policy strategies that support sustainable patient access to Impella Heart Recovery therapies.

Reporting to the VP, Global HEMA this role serves as a strategic leader across reimbursement policy, clinical trial coverage, and market access—working in close partnership with Field Reimbursement Solutions, Medical Affairs, Strategic Marketing, Health Economics & Data Science, and Commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

Reimbursement & Market Access Strategy

  • Manage U.S. reimbursement strategy across inpatient, outpatient, physician, and clinical trial settings for Impella products and services.
  • Protect and enhance reimbursement pathways while proactively addressing competitive, policy, and payment risks.
  • Provide expert guidance on coding, billing, and coverage to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Policy, Data & Evidence Integration

  • Interpret CMS / MAC and commercial payer policies to inform long‑term access strategies.
  • Analyze complex claims, Medicare, and third‑party data to assess policy impact and reimbursement performance.
  • Review and translate clinical and economic evidence into clear reimbursement positioning.

Cross‑Functional Leadership & External Engagement

  • Serve as a reimbursement subject‑matter expert to cross‑functional partners, including Medical Office, Regulatory, Strategic Marketing, HEMA, Field Reimbursement, and Commercial teams.
  • Engage with physician societies, coding organizations, and health policy stakeholders to support coding, coverage, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the Director of US Field Reimbursement Solutions to ensure consistent, high‑quality guidance in the field.

Leadership & Culture

  • Build a purpose‑driven environment aligned with the Johnson & Johnson Credo and Leadership Imperatives.
  • Influence without authority in a highly matrixed environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Deep expertise in the U.S. healthcare payer system, including CMS inpatient, outpatient, and physician payment structures.
  • Strong experience with healthcare claims, billing databases, and payer policy analysis.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complexity into actionable guidance.
  • Minimum 5 years of MedTech experience, with demonstrated reimbursement and/or health policy leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, health economics, health policy, or related field.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree (MPH, MHA, MS, MBA, or equivalent).
  • Prior experience supporting clinical trial reimbursement and policy‑driven innovation pathways.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$122,000.00 - $212,750.00

The anticipated base pay range for this position is$122,000-$212,750.00

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. ·

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
