This mindset goes beyond our customer solutions; it’s the foundation for your career development and the impact we have within the community.

Opportunity Overview

This is more than just a job; it’s a mission.

As our Field Service Engineering and Technical Data Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting front-line operations for the Large Aircraft InfraRed CounterMeasures (LAIRCM) capability across UK military bases. You will act as the daily face of Northrop Grumman UK, ensuring issues are resolved quickly, technical support is coordinated effectively, and strong, trusted relationships with customers are maintained.

You’ll lead, mentor and guide our Field Service Engineers, oversee on‑aircraft support activities, and act as the Chester facility’s focal point for the coordination and management of system-related technical data. In this role, you’ll bring together hands‑on engineering leadership, customer engagement and operational oversight in a fast‑moving, highly collaborative environment.

Role Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead engineering and technical support across all UK LAIRCM programmes, ensuring rapid, proactive resolution of field engineering issues.
  • Manage, mentor and support Field Service Engineers, including overseeing day‑to‑day tasking and participation in on‑call support when required.
  • Coordinate communication between UK and US programme teams, customer engineering authorities, the Chester site and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the collation, management and presentation of technical data from field service activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers, identifying opportunities for collaboration and improved service delivery.
  • Support Chester site operations, assist with technical investigations, deliver training when needed and uphold safe working practices.

Candidate Requirements

You will bring:

  • Experience in an engineering support or field service leadership role, ideally with knowledge of LAIRCM or a similar system.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and professionally.
  • A valid UK driving licence and passport.
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure, representing Northrop Grumman UK confidently in fast‑paced, customer‑focused environments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook and Excel.

If you’re not sure you meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. Your experience may be just what this role needs.
