Job Summary:
As the Manager of Retirement, Financial and Education Benefits, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and administration of our retirement and financial wellness offerings for employees across all 50 U.S. states. Reporting to the Director of Benefits, your primary goal will be to deliver programs that reflect the nature of our industry and meet the needs of employees to help attract and retain critical talent. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of retirement plan provisions, governance, operations and compliance, as well as financial wellness strategies to maximize the value of our benefit programs for employees.
Responsibilities:
Management: Serve as direct manager of the retirement and financial wellness benefits team.
Benefits Strategy: Develop and execute a competitive retirement, financial and education benefits strategy that cost-effectively meets the evolving needs of our diverse employee base and promotes financial wellbeing.
Plan Design: Lead benefit reviews, including plan design analysis, benchmarking and recommendations. Develop cost projections and align with budgeting goals.
Benefits Administration: Oversee administration for our retirement, financial and education benefit programs, including data and integrations across internal and external systems and partners. Develop and execute controls to ensure benefits are well managed and mitigate operational risk.
Cost Management: Collaborate with finance and leadership teams to establish and manage the benefits budget. Employ effective long-term cost management strategies to assure cost effective delivery of benefits while maintaining competitiveness and compliance.
Employee Engagement and Enrollment: Develop communication strategies to engage employees in exploring available benefit programs and taking an active role in managing their overall financial wellbeing. Deliver an easy, seamless enrollment experience leveraging available communication channels and technologies.
Vendor Management: Manage and develop strong partnerships with plan recordkeeper, investment and legal advisors and other service providers. Assess vendor performance regularly and collaborate with vendors to resolve issues and ensure seamless administration. Additionally, lead negotiations for contract reviews and RFPs.
Mergers and Acquisitions: Ensure proper benefits processes and reviews are followed for deal due diligence through onboarding of new employees who are part of mergers and acquisitions.
Expertise: Remain current on trends, best practices, and legal and regulatory updates.
Compliance: Develop processes and procedures to assure timely and accurate reporting and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including ERISA, DOL and other applicable laws.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize benefits data and metrics to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Employee Support: Provide support and assistance to employees with benefit-related inquiries, claims, and issues. Act as the point of contact for escalated benefit matters and offer timely resolutions.
Requirements:
Proven ability to create and execute multi-year benefits strategies
Extensive M&A experience, including analysis of material liabilities, benefit comparisons, plan terminations and 401(k) mergers
Experience managing or servicing 401(k) plans as a benefits or investment consultant, recordkeeper or human resources benefits manager, and completing compliance related plan requirements
Experience managing non-qualified retirement or other deferred compensation plans is preferred
Understanding and implementation of impactful employee financial wellness initiatives and education benefits
Effective utilization of HR technology to administer benefits and provide self-service opportunities. Additionally, manage information provided to service center to answer benefit questions and respond to escalated employee inquiries.
Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with a diverse range of cross-functional stakeholders and external partners
Change-agile mindset and strong change management skillset applied in a fast paced, rapidly evolving organization
Strong understanding of fiduciary responsibilities including management of retirement/investment committees.
Demonstrated leadership ability including experience managing and developing growing teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years progressive benefits experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
