Manages all top-level engineering activities for multiple Caterpillar mining truck models. This position functions like the conductor in an orchestra by bringing together system teams, machine components, and machine software to continue the legacy of designing and building marketing leading mining trucks. Works across a global, matrixed team to provide best in class quality, durability, performance, and lowest total cost of ownership.

What you will do:

•              Develop product technical strategies to satisfy market and business needs.

•              Coordinating and influencing resources across global product development teams.

•              Overseeing project progress, expenses and product cost; communicating status with stakeholders and development teams; proactively addressing and resolving problems.

•              Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

•              Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.

Technical Excellence: Working knowledge of mining trucks, applications, and general mining; ability to develop and provide solutions to complex technical challenges.

Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within product development.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects.

Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to manage tradeoffs between competing requirements.

Technical Problem Solving: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; thrives when presented with problem solving opportunities.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Top Candidates will also have:

Emotional IQ: Knowledge of leading and influencing global teams to accomplish aggressive program deliverables within a fully burdened, matrixed organization.

Communication: Knowledge to navigate difficult discussions with consideration to culture, experiences and competing priorities.

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is Tucson, AZ, or Decatur, IL.
