Northrop Grumman is hiring a ECLSS Embedded Lead Systems Engineer to support our Civil Space Systems programs under our Tactical Space Systems Division located in Dulles, VA and/or Gilbert, AZ.
This role is in support of the Habitat and Logistics Outpost (HALO) program. HALO is the first pressurized habitable element of NASA's Gateway, a space station to be constructed in cis-lunar space. HALO is a complex system consisting of critical elements such as active thermal control, environmental control and life support systems, fault tolerant computing, high power systems, critical safety functions, crew interfaces in a volume and mass constrained structure. The vehicle is in advanced stages of design, however significant customer requirement changes are still forthcoming.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Embedded Lead System Engineer (eLSE) will be the responsible systems engineering authority for the environmental control & life support systems (ECLSS).
Depending on the subsystems and phase of the program, the eLSE may be responsible for managing a small team of engineers.
The eLSE will provide dedicated systems engineering support within subsystem engineering.
The eLSE is a key layer of technical leadership in engineering to adequately support vendor reviews (TRRs, MRR, FRBs, UARs, etc), risk mitigation, special topic closure, and cross engineering integration.
The eLSE will be the responsible authority for applicable L4 (subsystem specifications) from requirements development through verification. The eLSE will work closely with L3 Thread Leads in development and verification of the L4 and all lower-level specifications.
The eLSE will be responsible for proper requirement flowdown from L4 (subsystem) to L5 (component) and work closely with the relevant Cognizant Engineers to ensure adequacy of L5 specifications (including verification)
The eLSE will be the owner of the applicable subsystem test plans, report, and all corresponding lower-level documentation.
The eLSE will be accountable for full verification of all L4 and lower specifications in their area.
