Zinia is the new checkout lending platform of the Santander Group. Zinia makes shopping simple, offering the possibility of splitting payments into interest-free installments in a fast and transparent way, powering merchants across Europe using technology from Openbank and Santander Consumer Finance.

 Zinia leverages the technological resources and expertise of Openbank, the digital-native bank of the Santander Group, which is currently rolling out its international expansion plans. Through a simple and flexible banking model, Openbank offers customers the possibility to manage their finances on the website or app.

Mission and responsibilities: 

The main tasks of this role will be the following:

  • Define and execute Zinia’s AI data strategy, aligned with its business priorities and global growth roadmap.
  • Act as the AI data owner for Zinia, ensuring clear accountability and stewardship.
  • Design and enforce AI data governance policies covering data lineage, ownership, quality, access control and compliance.
  • Implement processes and tools to monitor and remediate AI data quality issues.
  • Oversee the ingestion, transformation and storage pipelines required for reporting, analytics and regulatory needs.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to design scalable, real-time and batch pipelines across Zinia’s tech stack.
  • Lead the design and delivery of core dashboards in Power BI, ensuring usability, self-service access and business impact.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for leadership and operational teams.
  • Partner with the Group CDO office to align Zinia’s data KPIs with enterprise-wide definitions and methodologies.
  • Ensure full traceability and governance of Zinia’s strategic metrics (volumes, defaults, NPS, CLV, CAC, etc.).
  • Serve as the main data counterpart for Zinia’s functional leads (Risk, Product, Commercial, Tech).
  • Communicate strategy and progress to executive stakeholders; represent Zinia in data governance forums.

To be successful in the role you must have: 

  • 8+ years of experience in data strategy, governance, analytics or data product management, ideally in fintech, lending, or digital banking.
  • Hands-on knowledge of data pipeline design, ETL orchestration tools and data modeling.
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI (or similar BI platforms) for executive dashboards and operational reporting.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, DORA, BCBS 239).
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and aligning business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fluent in English. Bonus: Spanish or other European language.
  • Nice to have: Experience in cloud-native data architectures (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Nice to have: Prior work in early-stage scale-ups or transformation programs in financial institutions.
  • Nice to have: Exposure to customer 360 models, credit decisioning analytics, or AI/ML monitoring pipelines.
