Internship - 2025 Undergraduate Human Resources (HR) Solutions Intern

The role of Undergraduate HR Intern is intended to start in Summer 2025

An internship is a temporary position within 3M. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment. This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Human Resource (HR) Intern, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Addressing relevant business concerns through both individual and team-oriented projects

  • Taking advantage of initial and ongoing training opportunities and exposure to leadership through informational interviews, social events, and a formal presentation

  • HR intern assignments will reside within our HR Solutions organizations but project work may occur in any of the functional areas within our HR organization; interns will work on projects that represent real challenges faced by 3M and mirror the work of our full-time team members

  • This role will partner with Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Total Rewards and/or HR Risk Management to lead projects

Example skillsets utilized:

  • Project Management – Using industry approach such as agile/scrum, managing a project end to end

  • HR Process Design -Evaluating key HR processes, and using your ability to construct/reconstruct them using process methodology

  • Change Management -- Using industry approach, ability to measure and design change programs that drive employee engagement

  • Employee Engagement -- Designing specific HR programs to elevate the employee experience (ie. Mentoring, recognition, listening action planning, etc.)

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, from an accredited institution

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field from an accredited institution

  • Completed a minimum of sophomore year (4 semesters) by the start of the internship

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

  • Demonstrate high ethical standards and leadership abilities

  • Demonstrate interpersonal, communication, and team skills

3M provides eligible interns with a housing and transportation stipend in accordance with current policy.

Work Location: Hybrid in Maplewood, MN

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
