How you will create an impact

Underwriter Assistance, Part of Operation department “Underwriter Support Group - USG” who will work closely with AIG Underwriters to support business growth and AIG’s vision of underwriting and provide an exceptional operational excellence to customers, brokers, intermediaries, and internal/external business partners.

  • Be the key contact person between Product team, and the CPS Service team. This will involve being the escalation point for resolution of process queries, policy-specific queries as part of BAU activities i.e. bookings, unallocated cash etc.
  • Participate in pre and post-binding servicing activities.
  • Work with the Operations lead to ensure plans to improve performance are implemented where quality is not of the required standard.
  • Assist in underwriting of new and renewal business in accordance with underwriting guidelines, relevant underwriting authority and AIG principles.
  • Assist allocated underwriters with administration support. Tasks include inputting data for renewals, issuing decline letters, file maintenance, communicating with Brokers to follow up on submissions and closings, updating tracking IT systems, checking closings received from Brokers, generating policy documents and certificates of insurance in the underwriting systems, clearing unallocated cash and any other task required to support the underwriters at renewal or midterm.
  • Written and Voice communication with brokers, cedant and clients
  • Assist with the onboarding of new brokers and cedants coordinating with Compliance, Profit Centers and Distribution
  • Prepare formal documentation in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with Profit Centre and corporate standards, and in line with compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Review current processes to ensure continuous improvement and or process optimization.
  • Work with allocated underwriters to drive the use of underwriting platforms.
  • Assist senior members of the team with data analytics and portfolio management/analysis.
  • Assist in the implementation of business plans in accordance and company direction including technology and the digital delivery of products to the market.
  • Work closely with Underwriters to ensure the maintenance/development of solid working relationships with brokers to create business opportunities.
  • Ensure client service metrics as agreed by Profit Centre are adhered to.
  • Maintain accurate files, registers and records to contribute to management reporting and timely service and policy issuance and updating raters (e.g. Duck Creek).
  • Comply with key regulatory and risk management responsibilities.
  • Attend broker or client meetings as requested by underwriting
  • Complete all delegated projects in the expected manner as requested by the manager.

Work with underwriters to set-up systems and underwriting platforms

Qualifications & Education:

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • Experience in general Insurance.

Training:

  • Completion of assigned trainings through Talent Connection within the time frame ensuring all operations are conducted within AIG's scope of business.
  • Completion of trainings assigned by the line manager.

Knowledge:

  • Strong PC skills and using multiple programs simultaneously (proficiency is Excel and PowerPoint, Power BI, etc… )
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and active listening).
  • Demonstrate effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrate on a consistent basis follow through skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change to meet the needs of the clients and department.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to do analysis reports

Internal

Work closely with the Underwriters to support business growth and AIG’s vision of underwriting and operational excellence.

External

Work closely with the AIG clients (Customer, Partner, Producers, and Cedant)  companies) on various underwriting assessments and policy fulfilment requirement
