s an Associate Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Kuadrant project and Red Hat Connectivity Link (RHCL) product as a member of the engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cloud-native API management and gateway solutions built on top of Kubernetes, Envoy Gateway, and Istio. You will help build, maintain, and enhance our microservices that power multi-cluster gateway management, rate limiting, authentication, and DNS capabilities. You'll have the chance to learn from senior engineers and make a tangible impact on an open-source platform used by organizations worldwide.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable microservices (primarily in Go) that support Kuadrant's API management infrastructure
Contribute to the development of Kubernetes operators and controllers that manage gateway policies, rate limiting, and authentication across multi-cluster environments
Collaborate with the open-source community and internal engineering teams to integrate new features and enhance existing capabilities
Write clean, high-quality, and testable code; participate in peer code reviews to ensure reliability and maintainability
Help troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in Kubernetes environments, analyze logs, and contribute to performance optimization
Learn and apply cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes patterns, and API gateway concepts to solve complex problems
Contribute to documentation, examples, and community support efforts
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field
0-3 years of professional experience in software development
Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Go, Python, Java, or similar). You must have a solid foundation in programming, data structures, and algorithms
Experience with building or consuming RESTful APIs
Basic understanding of how APIs, gateways, or networking concepts work
Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for learning new technologies
Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, global, open-source environment
Comfortable working in a Linux environment
