Job Summary

TYLin is seeking a part-time, experienced, self-motivated Communications Technician in the Philadelphia area to assist the TYLin City Solutions Mobility Systems team with the oversight and deployment of communications projects. While the position is considered “remote,” periodic meetings will be held at the Philadelphia office at 1700 Market Street, Suite 2130.

Organizational Relationship: Reports directly to Principal Mobility Systems

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities    

Support field-related operations, Tasks include.

  • Oversight and coordination and attending onsite surveys at communications facilities.
  • Review of contractor-supplied site survey reports.
  • Review contractor-supplied design documentation and drawings.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities   

Candidates for this position should be proficient in the following areas: 

  • Rail and Transit communication systems 
  • Use of equipment manuals 
  • Oral and written communication 
  • Computer/Software including MS Office applications. 
  • Plan and/or schematic reading   
  • Perform field work on varying terrain and weather conditions    
  • Possess valid driver’s license    

 Education and Experience    

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum 25 years of experience with inspection of rail and transit field communications equipment, supervision of electrical maintenance contractors, and preparation of inspection reports.
  • Working experience at a commuter rail or transit agency, transit system supplier, or transit consulting firm desirable
  • Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience 

This is a U.S.-based position; applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S.
