JOB SUMMARY
Manages system and Protocol support for the market settlement process. Responsible for the providing Protocol and system support for market settlement processes. This includes impact analysis, system change testing and implementation support, stakeholder meetings, Verifiable Cost support, data analysis, data reporting requirements, and development of business processes and procedure.
JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff.
- Frequently interacts with reporting supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas or customers.
- Responsible for the management of subordinate staff within a department. Typically has individual contributors as direct reports, but could have supervisory direct reports. Has full responsibility for direct reports.
- Generally provides input to budgeting and financial decisions that impact the department. Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
- Directs the resolution of day-to-day settlement issues for over 1 billion-dollar annual energy market
- Directs the day-to-day activities of the Settlements and Billing Team
- Prepares and administers budgets and financial goals for the department
- Maintains and demonstrates appropriate knowledge of all settlement issues including but not limited to congestion, profiling, ancillary services, Reliability Must Run, imbalance energy, unaccounted for energy (UFE), electronic funds transfers and the associated grid/operational ERCOT charges
- Develops and maintains strong expertise in ERCOT procedures and business rules related to Load Profiling and Metering, Customer Registration and Business Rules and Contracts
- Supports projects, as necessary, to implement ERCOT's Commercial Operation Systems including future enhancements
- Serves as an expert witness for all settlement issues for hearings with the ERCOT’s Governing Board and regulatory bodies
- Participates in stakeholder process to as an expert resource on settlement and billing issues
- Facilitates systems development, product implementation, certification and testing criteria and general workflow procedures with other departments and ERCOT clients by effectively managing projects and contracts
- Develops and maintains an expert level of understanding of the competitive energy markets
- Assumes designated responsibilities and roles for the Director of Commercial Operations in his/her absence
- Supervises and manages vendors in the development of software tools and enhancements including detailing work objectives, software design, testing, training and implementation plans
- Mentors subordinates and assists in their professional development'
- Develops strong working relationships with the key staff members in ERCOT departments
- Pro-actively includes other departments as necessary in intra-departmental issues by promoting communication and information sharing between the Settlements and Client Services Team and other departments
- Oversees the configuration, implementation, and testing of the data aggregation system
- Ensures business processes and procedures are developed
- Supervises the maintenance and analysis of the data aggregation system in support of ERCOT market settlement operations
- Leads, develops and mentors data aggregation analysts
- On-the-job training and coaching employees
- Supervises the maintenance of the data aggregation system on a daily basis in support of the settlement process
- Supervises the development, operations, and enhancements of the data aggregation system to ensure that accurate and timely data is provided to Settlements, ERCOT Clients, and other interested ERCOT parties
- Supervises the development of workflow and business processes to meet the goals of the Commercial Operations business units of ERCOT
- Provides documentation in support of settlement related hearings with the ERCOT Governing Board and PUCT
- Supervises the development and implementation of ERCOT data aggregation protocols and business procedures consistent with SB7 and ERCOT business rules
- Responds to day-to-day Market Participant questions and operating issues related to the data aggregation process
- Develops and maintains expert level knowledge of ERCOT procedures and business rules related to Load Profiling, Data Acquisition, Data Aggregation, Registration, Settlements and Billing
- Supervises projects, as necessary, to implement ERCOT's Commercial Operation Systems including future enhancements
- Develops and maintains excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ensure market participant compliance with ERCOT protocols and guides as they relate to data acquisition and aggregation
- Knowledgeable about ERCOT systems and processes and can recognize the implications of PUCT rules or Protocol changes to ERCOT systems
- Demonstrates ability to assume designated responsibilities and roles of the Energy Analysis & Aggregation Manager in his or her absence
- Provides 24 x 7 call out support on a rotational basis
EXPERIENCE
- Requires minimum 8 years job related work experience and 2 years in a leadership role in excess of degree requirements. Minimum years of job related experience can include time in leadership roles.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree : Business, Engineering, Accounting or related field (Required)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required

Expected Salary Range:
$140,730 - $239,214
