JR44045 Sr. Database Administrator - MySQL

A Database Administrator (DBA) will keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
  • Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design efficient and scalable database structures.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot database-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and data inconsistencies.
  • Provide timely resolution and root cause analysis for incidents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application development, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to developers and end-users.
  • Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak, as necessary.
  • Prepare documentations and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Willingness for 24/7 shift support and oncall support

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience as DBA in RDBMS & No-SQL DB
  • A minimum of 7+ years of overall experience in IT Database Domain with proven experience in Database Operations.
  • Install, configure, and maintain MySQL database software and related tools.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Test and validate backups to guarantee recoverability in case of failures.
  • Strong proficiency in MySQL database management and decent experience with recent versions of MySQL
  • Knowledge of Cloud services, preferably AWS
  • Understanding of MySQLs underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
  • Experience with replication configuration in MySQL and knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.
  • Hands on experience with designing and implementing database replication strategies.
  • Experience in designing and automating repetitive processes.
  • Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL etc.
  • Knowledge of queuing and caching systems
  • Good Hands-on scripting language
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
