You’ll work alongside product, engineering, regional and global compliance teams to embed compliance into everything we do—enhancing our ability to deliver safe, accessible, and innovative solutions at scale. This role will play a key part in streamlining compliance workflows, removing friction, and empowering Kraken’s Consumer BU to supercharge growth while meeting regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is a pragmatic compliance expert who’s all about getting things done—someone who cuts through complexity to build solutions that drive business growth, empower consumers, and meet regulatory standards without slowing us down.  You should have strong B2C crypto and/or fintech industry knowledge, and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment.

The Opportunity

  • Partner with Consumer BU leaders to ensure that compliance considerations accelerate, rather than inhibit, product and market expansion.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with Kraken’s global compliance teams, ensuring our Consumer products are aligned with regulatory requirements without slowing innovation.

  • Develop and implement compliance processes that are efficient, agile, and designed to support rapid product development.

  • Provide insights on new regulations and market trends, identifying compliance-forward opportunities that can strengthen the business.

  • Advocate for the Consumer BU’s vision within the compliance function, ensuring the compliance team understands and supports our mission of empowering consumers.

  • Develop compliance risk management plans and coordinate with various compliance functions to ensure successful implementation of necessary controls

  • Work with regional compliance teams to ensure local considerations are taken into account for new global Consumer product rollouts.

  • Stay ahead of changes in the crypto industry including blockchain trends, emerging network protocols, prominent industry participants.

  • Build content to equip the broader Consumer team to proactively manage regulatory and AML/CTF risks

Skills you should HODL

  • 6+ years in a Compliance, Risk, or Legal function, ideally within a B2C fintech or crypto company.

  • Strong working knowledge of the global regulatory landscape for crypto and financial services, with a preference for candidates with knowledge of the EU landscape.

  • Proven track record of delivering results in complex, cross-functional projects with practical, business-oriented compliance solutions.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to distill complex regulatory insights into clear, actionable recommendations for business leaders.

  • Keen attention to detail combined with executive presence and the ability to communicate insights effectively to diverse audiences.

  • Deep technical or product expertise within the crypto ecosystem, with hands-on familiarity in blockchain, DeFi, or related technologies.

  • Resourceful and curious mindset, with the ability to analyze both structured and unstructured data from various sources.

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and swiftly switching contexts in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Google Sheets) and PowerPoint (Google Slides) for clear and impactful data visualization and presentations.
