Senior Manager, Communications, Motors 

This leadership role reports to the Global Director of Communications and will partner with cross-functional teams and in particular with the brand, social and trading teams to lead on the comms strategy and deliver on earned media outcomes with a focus on our automotive parts & accessories category on ebay.de. The communications team in DE is part of a global function so this role will work closely with colleagues in the US.

 

This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious automotive PR manager with 10 years of management experience under their belt to join a business which is a major player in the DE aftermarket landscape and has exciting plans for the future. The eBay comms team has delivered many high-profile campaigns in fashion, homewares, tech and luxury in recent years, we are looking for someone to bring their experience and knowledge to deliver a step change in how the car parts and accessories vertical shows up externally.

What you will accomplish:

  • You will lead proactive comms campaign development and execution – you will be responsible for developing highly integrated PR programmes which support eBay’s business objectives
  • Own the strategy and drive storytelling campaigns across our automotive vertical
  • Be part of a cross-functional working group for vertical-specific go to market plans and deliver essential communications counsel to internal partners.
  • Be a strategic thought partner to the business, demonstrating industry understanding and customer insights- be willing to challenge, test and learn.
  • Manage budgets, multiple work-streams and agency teams
  • Foster strong media relationships with automotive media to build eBay’s commercial and brand reputation across trade and customer stakeholder groups. 

 

What you will bring:

  • 10 years working at a mid-senior level on recognised brands in a fast-paced, PR environment, either agency or in-house, with proven experience in the automotive sector
  • We’re looking for someone who is a nimble and creative storyteller, has a penchant for cross-team collaboration, a proactive and energetic approach, impeccable judgement, presentation and communications skills
  • A natural flair for news and social trends coupled with excellent news and editorial judgement and an in-depth understanding of how the media operates
  • Understanding of the German automotive media landscape and established relationships
  • Experienced in delivering campaigns which engage the enthusiast automotive community
  • Experienced in briefing spokespeople, drafting media q&a’s, statements and releases
  •  Excellent written and spoken German and English
