Requirements: Seeking an experienced compliance professional with financial services background and experience in quarterly reporting, auditor and regulatory reviews, board and committee reporting/coordinating and people management.

*US and Canadian regulatory experience a plus

We are seeking an experienced people manager who will work with the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance leadership team, who will coordinate and performs reporting of risk assessment. You will be the primary contact for the Compliance department for audits and regulatory exams, with ownership of deliverables and the supporting artifacts. You will maintain positive relationships with regulators, including OCC, FRB, CFPB, FDIC, State of Illinois and OSFI (Canada). Strengthened partnership with BMO Audit team through effective communication and engagement. You will oversee program governance, including coordination and development of Board and committee reports along with corresponding supplemental materials. This person will manage budgeting and invoicing processes across the Compliance department, ensuring accurate expense record keeping. You will manage a team working in both hybrid and virtual environments on both sides of the North America border.

*This is a hybrid role requiring at least two days in the office.

  • Manages the reporting and strategy teams to collaborate on projects and initiatives

  • Manages the leadership meetings and steering committee materials and updates of key compliance initiatives

  • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the business/group.

  • Perform monthly/quarterly/ad-hoc reporting for the Enterprise and US for Compliance data and metrics

  • Manage audit and regulator reviews for the Enterprise and US

  • Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies.

  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Builds effective professional relationships with business group, internal/external stakeholders and trust with regulators.

  • Develops and maintains a high level of expertise in all regulations, directives and guidance which apply to the group(s) supported.

  • Provides input to business/group on emerging risks, regulatory developments and interpretation of regulations.

  • Analyzes and reports compliance information to Compliance and business/group management.

  • Represents the business/group Compliance team and interacts with examiners/auditors during internal, external and regulatory audits and examinations.

  • Anticipates/ identifies and analyses risk and consequences of unaddressed risk factors/ compliance gaps, and recommends appropriate controls.

  • Builds effective professional relationships with business/groups.

  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, 8+ years of experience and industry knowledge.

  • Consulting from Big 4 background viewed favorably

  • Serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders with advanced knowledge of regulatory/ compliance requirements and the operations of a single or multiple business/groups.

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, relationship management and project management skills.

  • Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert.

  • Data driven decision making - In-depth / Expert.

Salary:

$110,000.00 - $204,100.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
