Job Description – Commercial Development Engineer (North Augusta Located)

Develop and commercialize innovative, high performance nonwoven materials for filtration, industrial, automotive, and other markets.  This role focuses on leveraging data driven insights to optimize fiber and raw material formulations, machine parameters, and testing analysis to reduce new products time-to-market.

Reports – Global Commercial Director or North Americal Sales Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute product R&D trials on new fibers, scrims, membranes, etc
  • Work hand in hand with the commercial team and customers to develop new medias to solve customer and market issues
  • Follow, document, and prepare trial reports after each R&D project and report out to the commercial and operations team
  • Create and execute cost price requests, routings and specifications in ERP
  • Meet with procurement team vendors offering new fibers, scrims, chemicals, etc
  • Keep a detailed R&D trial report and hold a monthly meeting to discuss activities and progress of trial
  • Ensure proper handover from development to operations after fully commercializing new products
  • Collaborate with European commercial and operational teams to share technology, processes, products, materials etc.
  • Travel with commercial team to meet customers and potential customers in efforts to grow our needle felt portfolio and revenue
  • Travel to various trade shows to investigate potential leads, technology, materials, etc. that can be utilized in new and existing designs

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • B.Sc. degree or greater from an accredited university in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Textile, etc.) or a related field, textile technician – ideally in the file of nonwovens.
  • Self-motivated, competence in personal time and strong project management skills are expected.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with quality awareness
  • Ability to relate technical information to non-technical customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Languages: German (native language), English (fluent)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with roll handling, production line engineering, a plus
  • New product development implementation within a quality framework – IATF, QbD within FDA GMPs, or other process-driven approaches is a plus
