Position Summary: 

Responsibilities include maintaining and organizing litigation materials; litigation management; processing correspondence, and various clerical duties including following up on court filings and legal tasks in support of Litigation Associate Counsels when needed.

  • Key  Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

    • Provides customers service to court personnel or vendors via mail/telephone when needed.

    • Reviews accounts for entire legal process

    • Prepares accounts placed for civil legal action, including E-Filing, and/or generating all required pleadings

    • Performs quality check to ensure accuracy before filing/mailing

    • Follows up on court filings/rejections

    • Orders/processes check requests

    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies across areas of organizational responsibility

    • Reviews documents for corrections and accuracy by reviewing accounts and each state documentation process.

    • Maintains knowledge of current department policies and procedures and apply as necessary in appropriate circumstances.

    • Conducts legal research using databases such as lexisNexis and court websites.

    • Manages incoming correspondence between the legal team, clients, courts and third parties.

    • Monitors Litigation state inboxes

    • Provides necessary legal documents for court hearings

    • Follows up on court hearings results

     Professional Experience/Qualifications:

    • Previous experience as a Legal Clerk I required

    • High school diploma or G.E.D required

    • 1-2 years related litigation experience in a law firm or municipal or state court or equivalent education or training

    • Excellent writing and communication skills

    • Good organizational skills

    • Must be proficient in Windows, Outlook, PRANET, Application Extender; familiar with Word, Excel.

    • Effective time-management and interpersonal skills with a high attention to detail

    • Must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
