What You Will Do:
The Inpatient Financial Counselor is responsible for visiting patients and ensuring patient understands their insurance benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, out of pocket and covered services, provides education and information, about available assistance programs for the uninsured or under insured at UAB. Excellent communication and customer skills is required for this position.
This position is located at Jefferson Towers, UAB, and has a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Please be advised, the schedule is subject to change bases on hospital census and the needs of the business.
What You Will Need:
High School Diploma/GED or 3 years of experience with patient financial counseling in lieu of diploma/GED
1 year of hospital experience, medical office, or customer service
Knowledge of Medical Terminology
What Would Be Nice to Have:
Previous eligibility experience
1-3 years of experience in medical billing or hospital admittance
Knowledge of private and government insurance plan
Computer proficiency
Working Knowledge of Processes for all major insurance carriers, intermediaries, Medicare and Medicaid
