About this unit:

6 North is a 38 bed Cardiovascular inpatient unit that specializes in caring for adult patients with Heart Failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, pulmonary hypertension and cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring.

Individuals would want to work on this unit due to the large variety of cardiovascular and progressive care experiences that allow for a robust skill set. You would gain time management skills along with proficiency in the management of patients with complex conditions. The culture of this unit is team work and support.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).  Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. 

Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.

Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.

Orientation and Training:

The role will begin with 2 days of training in a simulation center and 1 day of EPIC training with our Nurse Educators.  These are prescheduled classes from 8 am to 4:30 pm.  These in person classes are on weekdays during week 1 of employment.  Because these classes are prescheduled, you must attend all full days, and we cannot reschedule any of the required dates if you cannot attend.  Attendance is compensated, as it is required for compliance.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

LIFE SUPPORT\Basic Life Support (BLS) Within 90 Days
