As part of Moderna’s continued global growth, this role sits at the core of a world-class international MESH center, supporting Finance, Pharmacovigilance, and HR across international markets.
You will play a critical role in ensuring indirect tax compliance and operational excellence across multiple jurisdictions, helping scale Moderna’s global footprint.
This is a highly collaborative, technically rigorous position with exposure to evolving tax regulations and opportunities to enhance processes through digital and data-driven approaches, including emerging AI-enabled tools.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
On Operational Excellence:
Support VAT reporting compliance for specific markets under the direction of the Indirect Tax Senior Manager, ensuring all internal and external deadlines are consistently met
Assist in the preparation of monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, and annual VAT returns, as well as other indirect tax filings (including sales listings and Intrastat), leveraging indirect tax reporting tools
Provide technical support to stakeholders on indirect tax matters, ensuring transactions are processed and recorded accurately in compliance with local regulations
Perform transactional reviews and controls to validate VAT treatment and postings in alignment with applicable tax laws and internal policies
Monitor VAT reconciliations and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy of data and robustness of internal controls across indirect tax activities
Communicate regularly with key stakeholders regarding tax matters, including assessing and highlighting the impact of regulatory changes on compliance and business operations
Adapt quickly to changing priorities, supporting cross-functional projects and acting as a subject matter expert in indirect tax as new requirements and data emerge
Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of VAT processes, including the use of automation and advanced digital tools
On People and Stakeholder Management:
Build strong relationships with commercial and functional teams, providing high-quality VAT guidance across compliance, advisory, reviews, and audits while constructively challenging existing approaches
Collaborate closely with the Indirect Tax Senior Manager and MIBS leadership, taking ownership of deliverables to ensure full compliance with tax requirements
Support internal teams with VAT-related inquiries, providing clear, accurate, and timely guidance on procedures and requirements
Develop a deep understanding of business operations by partnering with stakeholders, continuously learning and aligning tax processes with broader organizational objectives

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline required
In progress of tax accreditation - a plus
Proficiency in English (verbal and/or written) required due to global collaboration needs
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
2-4+ years of related experience in indirect taxes is required; public accounting experience, pharma/biotech company
Strong tax technical skills including expertise in VAT
Experience with financial systems including SAP, Blackline and Microsoft Suite of products
Strong work ethic, self-motivated, willing to “Roll-up your sleeves” to drive and deliver results, meet deadlines and improve processes
Strong analytical skills and pays attention to detail
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams
Excellent English skills, both written and verbal. Additional languages is a plus
