As the Chief Development Officer (CDO) at Rock Dental Brands, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our inorganic growth strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, driving growth through a dynamic acquisition strategy and establishing strategic relationships with pediatric and orthodontic dental practices across targeted geographic areas. Your collaboration with operational leaders and senior management teams will be essential to achieving Rock Dental Brands' ambitious growth objectives.

In this dynamic role, your expertise in market analysis, strategic planning, and execution will be instrumental in achieving Rock Dental Brands' growth targets. The Chief Development Officer position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization's expansion within the dental services sector.

Responsibilities

  • Market Research and Opportunity Assessment: Conduct comprehensive research on new growth opportunities and identify emerging trends and opportunities within the pediatric and orthodontic dental practice landscape.

  • Pipeline Development and Management: Build and maintain a robust database and pipeline of potential M&A targets while also identifying and evaluating strategic fit and recommending investment cases to executives and leadership.

  • M&A Strategy and Execution: Lead the end-to-end M&A process, including deal sourcing, diligence, financial modeling, valuation, and negotiations. And collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful closings and smooth transitions for newly acquired clinics.

  • Communication and Reporting: Publish regular pipeline and status reports for the CEO, Executive Team, and Board, providing insights into the progress of acquisition initiatives while also ensuring transparent and effective communication internally and externally throughout the M&A process.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining key attributes of growth opportunities and target acquisitions. While working with the finance team to develop and analyze financial models for potential acquisitions and growth initiatives.

  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Monitor the financial performance of acquired companies, preparing regular reports against budget.

  • Activity Tracking and Documentation: Establish and maintain daily call and activity tracking systems. Plus take ownership of the development and presentation of deal materials, including transaction summaries, approval decks, and ad-hoc presentations.

  • Process Optimization: Establish and maintain best-practice processes for all aspects of the M&A process, driving efficiency and effectiveness in the development and execution of growth strategies.

Must Have Qualifications

  • Leadership and M&A Expertise: Bachelor’s degree is required; 7 + years of senior management and M&A experience, with a proven track record of successfully navigating and closing mergers and acquisitions. Prefer experience working with medical and dental professionals.

  • Strategic Development: Proven experience in developing and executing strategies within a high-volume acquisition environment, including selling and closing complex transactions within aggressive timelines.  And an In-depth understanding of the end-to-end acquisition process.

  • Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading both direct and indirect teams, collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Analytical and Business Assessment: Exceptional analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills and the ability to assess business models and investments.

  • Boardroom Experience: Previous exposure to the boardroom environment, engaging with executive suite leaders, and contributing to high-level discussions.

  • Deal Identification and Closing: Demonstrated success as a high-volume M&A deal closer who has proven ability to quickly identify a substantial volume of potential deal targets.

  • Financial Modeling: Deep experience and independent capability in preparing M&A financial models, conducting thorough analyses to evaluate potential deal investments.

  • Adaptability and Agility: Ability to adapt to dynamic and fast-paced environments, navigating complex deal structures and aggressive timelines effectively.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective communication within the organization and with external partners.

  • Results-Driven Approach: Proven track record of delivering results, and meeting or exceeding acquisition targets, and contributing to organizational success.
