Job Summary

We're looking for someone with a great customer service mindset, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and who comes to work with a positive attitude ready to take on the day. An ideal candidate will have prior customer service and training will be provided for all new hires.

Our Lab Assistant I positions are full-time (40-hour/week) and are located in the Torrey Pines/Sorrento Valley area (zip code 92121.)

Working under supervision, this is an entry level position assigned to different operations and service departments. Performs unskilled Lab Services, Maintenance, Dock Services and assists in performing corrective work orders, preventative maintenance, and manual tasks such as moving equipment, offices, and materials.  This will be accomplished by performing on-site routine maintenance and assisting with duties including but not limited to the Essential Functions listed below.

Compensation is $22 - $24 per hour

Job Description

Essential Tasks

  • Glass Wash Support
  • Clean and Prep glassware and distribute to hubs
  • resupply/stock glassware as needed
  • Cold Storage Support- routinely monitor freezers for proper use and routine cleaning
  • Perform vent cleaning and defrosting
  • coordinate vendor repair for down equipment
  • Lab Inventory support- refill PPE in all labs as needed
  • support resupply and distribution of consumables
  • Shipping and Receiving support- support as needed for transporting/receiving products to and from vendors
  • Ensure efficient delivery of packages, chemicals, equipment, and other items

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. 
  • Six months prior work experience in a related work environment, illustrating good attendance, professional behavior, reliability. 
  • Ability to follow orders given orally and in writing.  
  • Ability to complete tasks and paperwork with basic supervision. 
  • Computer skills (i.e., excel, word, outlook) 
  • May require and ACTIVE driver’s license and personal vehicle. 
  • The nature of our business has worksites in a number of locations in the greater Metro area. We expect our employees to remain flexible, and travel between sites may be necessary as the business demands.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments.
  • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and noise.

Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of office and facilities equipment (cleaning products, tools, and ladders) and trash and the ability to safely use equipment provided. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Climb a ladder to perform repairs.
