POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Business Solutions Delivery Team Leader, the Senior Software Developer is an integrated role within the IT Solutions Delivery team. The Specialist is expected to participate in the full development lifecycle, starting with planning and estimating, developing, implementing, and deploying complex services, orchestrations, and integrations as required in a context of continuous integration and deployment. Working smoothly, in a fast-paced environment and in collaborative working mode will be the norm.
The person who joins the team as a Senior Software Developer will be part of a group that has the responsibility to support, improve our public portal (www.bdc.ca). This website is an essential channel for our organization that contains a significant amount of information for our customers and prospects.
The work carried out takes place in a complex environment since our public portal is extremely vast. A solid knowledge in FrontEnd web development (ideally with version 12 of the Episerver CMS) is essential to meet our evolution needs. These needs are as much in terms of accessibility development, as to developing the EPI Server components of the site (such as the menu and forms) so that they meet the new features of CMS 12. BackEnd work in .Net will also be required, depending on our evolution needs. In addition, knowledge of the Banking world is an important asset in understanding the context of our activities.
Experience working in an Agile mode is ideal to integrate well into our ecosystem. The Senior Software Developer must also collaborate and act as a leader with the other developers on the team, as well as with the Analysts and our internal customers.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Develop new components under the Episerver version 12/ Optimizely solution.
Maintenance and upgrade of existing components.
Develop unit tests to support the integrity of your development.
Keep the EpiServer/Optimizely solution up to date.
Ensure that our public portal is adapted to meet accessibility standards.
Write clear and detailed technical and user documentation.
Ensure that the team uses appropriate engineering practices, invests in continuous tooling or technical debt improvements, and that the system evolves to meet its needs and changing environment.
Compliance with architecture, safety, and industry best practice standards by application/product.
Communication/collaboration with other teams and within the team.
Design, document, develop and deliver appropriate web-based technical solutions based on information architecture and functional and non-functional requirements.
Define and review programming codes to ensure that development standards are adhered to and compatible with software, analysis, and design, following "best practices" in documentation.
Collaborate with the team to develop functional specifications to understand solutions and business complexities.
Perfect and ensure the proper execution of unit tests.
Participate in the implementation in various environments (development and test) through Production.
Adapt to changing technology, learning and applying new methods to achieve organizational goals.
Provides first-level technical support to resolve production issues and provide support according to established service levels.
Manage technical debt with the Product Owner.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree in information technology or equivalent experience
At least ten years of experience in development or information technology
Experience in the Banking industry is an asset
Experience as an Episerver developer (version 12) is an asset
Seven to ten years of experience as a Full Stack developer
Experience in software development and coding in various languages (.NET MVC, .NET Core, HTML, SCSS, JavaScript, Type Script, etc.)
Experience with various Build tools (Gulp, NodeJS, Yaml, etc.).
Experience in Frontend coding languages (HTML, SCSS, JavaScript, Type Script, etc.)
Experience in web accessibility and HTML best practices.
Experience with software engineering approaches such as TDD, Pair Programming, CI/CD, Release Pipeline, and Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of Episerver/Optimizely CMS an asset
Demonstrate a high level of collaboration with developers, QA analysts, and product owners
Hands-on experience with Azur DevOps
Hands-on experience in Agile mode (Scrum, kanban, INVEST)
