Responsible for managing direct and indirect material procurement and inventory to support production. This includes planning purchases, placing orders, monitoring supplier performance, ensuring timely material availability aligned with the production schedule, and validating receipt and payment processing. The role works closely with the Site Planning Manager to meet forecast and production requirements.
What will you be doing?
The role is responsible for managing production planning and material supply by executing the master production schedule, ensuring materials are procured in optimal quantities and delivered on time to support manufacturing activities. It involves maintaining accurate planning signals, aligning material availability with production demand, and contributing to S&OP and capacity planning to meet business requirements.
A key focus is supplier and procurement management, including monitoring supplier performance, resolving issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing, and handling non-conforming materials and return processes. The role also involves acting as a liaison between suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth coordination and timely issue resolution while supporting invoice verification and payment authorization.
Additionally, the role ensures inventory and system accuracy by proactively managing stock levels, minimizing excess or obsolete inventory, and maintaining accurate data in SAP. This includes monitoring inventory parameters, analyzing month-end performance for forecast adjustments, and supporting continuous improvements in supply planning and inventory optimization.
What will you need to be successful?
This role is based in Batu Kawan, Penang, and requires a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field. It is suited for candidates with at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, inventory planning, or purchasing, ideally within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or consumer industry. Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP, and strong proficiency in MS Office tools are essential, while experience with MRO and indirect materials or in the medical device field would be an added advantage.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong supply chain and MRP knowledge, with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. They should be a self-driven individual capable of working under pressure, with strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities. A results-oriented mindset, attention to detail, and confidence to propose new ideas are key, along with proficiency in tools like Excel, Power BI, and other standard business applications.
