Summary:
Reporting to the VP Strategic Initiatives, and working as part of the Strategic Initiatives team, the Strategic Initiatives Business Analyst is responsible for partnering with business leaders and support areas to identify, assess, and advance priority strategic initiatives. The role spans the full lifecycle from opportunity identification through execution – conducting discovery, building business cases, and providing hands-on project oversight. This is a development role designed to build foundational skills across business analysis, strategy, automation, data, and insurance operations, with increasing responsibility over time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct structured discovery with business users and support areas to understand current-state processes, identify root causes, and assess the feasibility of proposed initiatives.
Research, develop, and present business cases that articulate estimated value, project scope, key stakeholders, resource requirements, and a phased execution roadmap – including identification of critical success factors, risks, and mitigation strategies.
On assigned projects, provide hands-on oversight to ensure effective leadership engagement, resourcing, decision-making, and stakeholder communication; escalate key issues or decisions as required.
Support the development and maintenance of a consolidated view of strategic initiatives, including status reporting, issues tracking, and decisions requiring executive leadership oversight.
Contribute to other strategic projects, research initiatives, and operational priorities as assigned by the VP Strategic Solutions.
Requirements:
A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
Experience or coursework in insurance, risk management, or financial services is an asset. Candidates who do not hold a CIP/CAIB designation are encouraged to pursue one upon joining.
Exposure to business case development, process analysis, or strategy-to-execution planning through coursework, co-op, internship, or early-career experience is preferred.
Familiarity with AI, data and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel), and digital process improvement concepts is an asset.

Occasional travel may be required.

The expected salary range for this position is $50k-$72k and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
