The position is assigned responsibilities under the supervision of the Deputy Executive Director which involves activities related to the regulation of prelicensure nursing education. This includes responsibility for interacting with other city, state and federal agencies, and other entities, and providing education related to the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act and other state and federal laws concerning nursing education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required includes knowledge of state and federal laws and rules pertaining to education and nursing education; knowledge of the theoretical concepts of nursing curriculum development and evaluation, and of national accreditation standards; and of computers, use of email and Internet, and computer software document-processing programs. Ability is required to perform the typical functions of this position with minimal supervision; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the public, nursing education administrators and faculty, licensees and other agencies and entities (including making presentations to large groups) about nursing education and regulation issues; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Skill is required to handle multiple assignments at the same time, including a large volume of telephone calls, emails, and letters from stakeholders, often with interruptions and under strict deadlines.
Education and Experience requirements consist of a/an: unencumbered, current Oklahoma RN license; master’s degree in nursing, ten years of experience as a registered nurse with four years in an administrative leadership position in a nursing education program (baccalaureate-level or higher preferred); current Oklahoma driver’s license.
Individual must possess the ability and willingness to perform job-related travel, including overnight stays and travel by car or air.
