Role Description: 

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer to be a high-level contributor on the development of software, firmware and hardware within our AI-powered solutions.  This role requires a blend of hardware and software expertise across the product development lifecycle from prototype to production.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with architects and product leaders to implement product vision
  • Research options for hardware and software components to meet product requirements
  • Own system requirements generation and management from product requirements
  • Design, develop and test software for our embedded devices and systems
  • Help develop Embedded Systems Engineering best practices
  • Assist with hardware design, prototyping and troubleshooting
  • Identify, analyze and isolate problems at board and system levels

Travel Expectations/Requirements: 5-15%

Location Expectations: Hybrid 3 days in the office in Phoenix, Arizona

The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the organization. We are seeking a dynamic individual who is able to adapt and take on new responsibilities as they arise. 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in embedded systems engineering
  • Experience building embedded systems using advanced SoCs and processors from Qualcomm, AMD, Nvidia or similar
  • Experience building prototypes working with vendors as well as hands on lab work on development kits and customized hardware
  • Knowledge and experience with hardware protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, I2S, MIPI, USB
  • Experience developing software for resource-constrained embedded systems where battery life, heat and physical space are important considerations
  • Flexibility to learn and work with multiple programming languages, operating systems, and frameworks for testing, validation, emulation
  • Experience with build environments like Yocto, Buildroot, OpenEmbedded
  • Experience with embedded Linux and familiarity with operating system concepts like HW/SW interrupts, threading and device drivers
  • Experience troubleshooting embedded systems issues, with ability to trace the problem between hardware and software
  • History of developing embedded systems that have successfully ramped into production
  • High level of technical proficiency, with the ability to work within a team to solve complex problems
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to break down large tasks into smaller prioritized backlogs effectively

Amazing To Haves

  • Experience deploying on-device neural networks using SDKs for GPUs, DSPs, etc.
  • Experience building embedded systems in air-gapped environments
  • Experience with containerization and Kubernetes

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience. Compensation ranges are established using national benchmarking data and apply across all geographic locations within the United States.
