JOB PURPOSE:

This is a staff position which is expected to function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of releasing, Numerical Controls (NC) programming, processing, assembly processing, layout, work standards and manufacturing development.
 

JOB DUTIES:

The manufacturing engineer will perform the following:

CNC Programming & Prove‑Out

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software and direct G‑code editing for a variety of machine types, including:
    • 3, 4, and 5‑axis machining centers
    • CNC lathes (2‑axis, live tooling, multitasking)
    • Boring, drilling, grinding, and specialty machining processes
  • Own program prove‑out at the machine, including dry runs, first‑article runs, and debugging feeds, speeds, tool paths, and control logic.
  • Post‑process and tailor programs for machine‑ and control‑specific behavior (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mazak, etc.).

Machining Process Ownership

  • Develop complete machining processes for precision components, including:
    • Tool selection and toolpath strategy
    • Workholding and fixturing concepts
    • Sequence of operations and datum strategy
    • Inspection methods and control characteristics
  • Establish and maintain standard work, setup sheets, tool lists, and process documentation that reflect real machine behavior—not theoretical intent.
  • Spend regular time on the shop floor working directly with operators and setup technicians.

Troubleshooting & Optimization

  • Diagnose and resolve machining issues such as:
    • Tool wear, breakage, chatter, and thermal effects
    • Dimensional instability, runout, surface finish defects
    • Cycle time overruns and machine utilization losses
  • Analyze tooling failures and optimize tool geometry, coatings, holders, coolant strategy, and cutting parameters.
  • Drive continuous improvement actions focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, using real production data and hands‑on observation.


Education requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Advanced English-speaking level.

Skill description:

Engineering

  • Intermediate working knowledge of manufacturing engineering
  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Beginner knowledge with reading and interpreting engineering prints

Manufacturing Processes

  • Basic knowledge of component machining and grinding concepts.
  • Beginner working knowledge with CNC programming
  • Beginner working knowledge with CAD modeling

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Expertise with design requirements and managing implementation of capital assets
  • Working knowledge with CQMS certification requirements, NPI, APQP, and PPAP processes (Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams)
  • Basic knowledge with Siemens NX

Additional information

  • This position is located in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León.
  • The work schedule is Monday through Friday (7a.m. to 5p.m.)
  • This position may require travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
  • Domestic relocation is available for this position.
