Help employees understand the value and contents of their total benefits package (health, life, dental, vision, etc.). Answer questions and resolve issues related to employee benefits. Assist employees with timely enrollment of benefits. Ensure the benefit information in both internal and external benefits systems are accurate.   

Primary Responsibilities

  • Answer questions from employees and managers regarding employee benefits in a professional, courteous, and prompt manner
  • Act as a guide to help employees understand the benefit options available and explain benefit offerings
  • Research employee questions in both internal and external systems (I.e., payroll, online benefits administration)
  • Enroll employees and their qualified dependents into ODFL benefit plans and follow up, as necessary, to obtain the proper documentation
  • Assist with other benefits processes such as: terminating benefits, modifying benefit elections due to qualifying events, and adding new benefits within the appropriate timeframe, as defined by government regulations and  ODFL plan documents
  • Keep meticulous records of benefits changes, scanning benefit documents into employees’ records, and run audit reports to verify accuracy
  • Work with benefit providers/vendors to ensure employees and dependents are properly enrolled in various benefit plans
  • Respond timely to phone calls and emails from employees and plan participants regarding benefit related questions and issues
  • Participate in other projects as assigned

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • 2 years of direct experience in employee benefits
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to answer benefits questions clearly and accurately
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, AS400
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Understanding of government regulations regarding employee benefits
